MUNCIE, Ind. — A Blackford County man was arrested Thursday on 100 preliminary counts of possession of child pornography,
William Dean Basler, 33, of the 200 block of East Grant Street in Hartford City, was at first held in the Delaware County jail under a $500,000 bond.
On Friday morning, however, the former Eaton resident’s bond was reduced to $20,000.
Investigators with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department began an investigation of Basler’s activities in late May after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Through a search warrant, detectives eventually received folders linked to Basler’s email address that contained dozens of lewd images of children.

In at least 50 of those images, the children — shown exposing their genitals and engaging in sex acts, in some instances with adults — appeared to be under the age of 12.
In other images, the children appeared to be between the ages of 12 and 14.
Interviewed Thursday, Basler at first denied any connection to the images.
Later, he admitted he began viewing pornographic videos while living in Eaton.
The Hartford City man said child pornography was «bad and disgusting,» an affidavit said, and claimed he had reported it, presumably to authorities, «any time he would see it.»
Basler was preliminarily charged with 50 Level 5 felonies, carrying prison terms of up to six years, and 50 Level 6 felonies, with maximum 30-month sentences.
The former Indianapolis resident’s record includes convictions for auto theft, forgery and theft.
