A man was killed in a mobile home fire Tuesday afternoon in a neighborhood off Crystal Springs Road in the county, officials confirmed Wednesday.
Jerry Leon Matthews, 83, died as the result of the fire reported about 3 p.m. at his home in the 2500 block of Elcar Drive, according to an incident report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire most likely originated in the living room of the mobile home, according to Fire Chief Steven Parrish of the Cumberland Road Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Parrish said.
